Tolu Arokodare nominated twice for Ajax Amsterdam’s October Goal of the Month award

Super Eagles forward Tolu Arokodare has been shortlisted twice for Ajax Amsterdam’s Goal of the Month award for October 2026 after scoring four times in six appearances for the Dutch club.
The Wolverhampton Wanderers loanee is in contention for the prize because of goals scored in Ajax’s UEFA Conference League match against Atalanta and their Eredivisie fixture with AZ Alkmaar.
Arokodare’s first nominated goal came against Atalanta on 22 October. With the match approaching its conclusion, the Nigeria international controlled Youri Baas’ long pass three minutes before full-time, moved beyond a defender and finished past the goalkeeper to give Ajax the lead.
His second nomination came in Ajax’s final match of the month against AZ Alkmaar. Arokodare rose above Mees de Wit in the ninth minute to meet Abdellah Ouazane’s cross and head the ball powerfully into the net.
That effort proved decisive as Ajax secured a narrow 1–0 victory.
Arokodare will face competition from several Ajax Amsterdam team-mates, with Ouazane also receiving two nominations for the monthly award.
Davy Klaassen, Leo Salazar, Abdoulaye Camara and Naoufal Mouslim make up the remainder of the shortlist.
The Nigerian striker joined Ajax Amsterdam in July on a season-long loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers. The agreement includes an option for the Dutch club to sign him permanently.
