WAFCON 2026: Nigeria face Cameroon as Ghana meet Malawi for semi-final places
Cameroon will face Nigeria and Malawi will play Ghana on Sunday as the final two quarter-finals of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations take place in Morocco.
Both matches carry the same major reward: victory will send the winners into the semi-finals and secure automatic qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
The first tie, between Cameroon and Nigeria, is scheduled for 18:00 WAT at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca. Malawi’s meeting with Ghana follows at 21:00 WAT at the Al Medina Stadium in Rabat.
The two matches complete the last-eight stage after Morocco and Algeria progressed on Saturday. Their victories also confirmed places at the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup, leaving four more teams competing for the remaining qualification opportunities available through these quarter-finals.
With no margin for error, Sunday’s fixtures will determine which sides continue their pursuit of the continental title and which teams end their campaigns at the last-eight stage. The winners will move into the semi-finals, while also earning a place at the global tournament in Brazil.
Nigeria’s quarter-final against Cameroon is the earlier of the two decisive matches. The fixture will be played in Casablanca, with the Larbi Zaouli Stadium hosting a tie that offers both teams a direct route to the next round and to World Cup qualification.
The second match in Rabat will see Malawi take on Ghana. Kick-off at the Al Medina Stadium is set for 21:00 WAT, with the outcome determining the final semi-final place and another qualification spot for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Saturday’s results have already established Morocco and Algeria as two of the four teams progressing to the World Cup from this stage of the competition. The remaining places will be decided by Sunday’s quarter-final winners.
