Nigerian football stars rally around Alex Iwobi against cyberbullying

By Monsurah Olatunji

Nigeria football stars have urged fans to stop cyber-bullying Alex Iwobi and show love after their failure to win the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Iwobi played all seven matches as Nigeria’s Super Eagles finished second in the just concluded tournament which was won by hosts Ivory Coast.

However, a section of the fans felt the Fulham attacker was playing cautiously and did not give his best on the pitch.

The midfielder did not manage to assist or even score in the biennial competition despite being the nephew of the iconic Nigerian footballer, Jay Jay Okocha.

However, his teammates led by team captain Ahmed Musa rally around him for support and frowned against cyberbullying.

The Super Eagles stars, including Victor Osimhen, William Troost-Ekong, Samuel Chukwueze, Joseph Ayodele-Aribo amongst others threw in their support for Alex Iwobi against Cyberbullying.

“We win together, We lose together. We are all one. Some of our fans should do better @alexanderiwobi ❤,” their post reads.

Members of the Super Falcons team led by Asisat Oshoala also join in on this campaign.

Nnadozie, Okobi, Oparanozie, Ajibade, among others throw their support behind the player.

Oshoala, a record six-time African player of the year went a step further to call out big names like popular blogger, Tunde Ednut, self-acclaimed activist, VeryDarkMan, who are amongst the bullies.
