Nigeria and Mexico share spoils in pre-U17 Women’s World Cup friendly

Nigeria’s U-17 women’s football team, the Flamingos, played out a 1-1 draw with Mexico in a friendly match on Monday in the Dominican Republic.
The Flamingos took the lead in the 33rd minute through Faridat Abdulkareem, but the advantage was short-lived.
Just nine minutes later, Mexico’s El Tricolor equalized in the 42nd minute, ensuring a share of the spoils.
Both teams are using the friendly as part of their preparations for the upcoming FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, which kicks off on October 16 in the Dominican Republic.
Bankole Olowookere’s Flamingos will face the host nation, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, and New Zealand in Group A. Meanwhile, Mexico will compete in Group C alongside North Korea, Kenya, and England.
The 2024 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup promises to be a thrilling tournament, with teams from around the globe vying for glory.
