The executive governor of Nasarawa state, Abdullahi Sule, has rewarded members of the state women’s football team, Nasarawa Amazons, with 10 million Naira.

The cash reward serves as an incentives for the task ahead which is the 2024/2025 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership and President Federation

The number one citizen of the state said winning the tournament was proof of their skills and a source of pride for the state.

“I am glad to receive our champions of today and by the grace of God tomorrow, the pride of Nasarawa state, Nasarawa Amazons,” the Governor said.

“May I heartily congratulate the champions, coaching crew, and supporting team, particularly the Chairperson of the club, Hajiya Hussaina Suleiman Nagogo, who has always been there with you.

“May I also congratulate the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development and its leadership who have been the links between the club and the government.”

The Governor assured that the state government will meet the yearnings of the team.

“I wish to inform you that the challenges you mention have been penciled down for tackling, and very soon, they will be taken care of,” He added.

“I say a little about Nasarawa Amazons because they will remain our champions. That doesn’t take the fact that I also encourage the make team, Nasarawa United FC because they do need the encouragement more than you do due to their current standings in the Nigeria Premier League.”

The Solid Miners, as Nasarawa Amazons are fondly called, defeated Confluence Queens, Abia Angels, Remo Stars Ladies, and host Edo Queens on their way to the final of the BOWFT.

The team beat Bayelsa Queens in the final to emerge as winners on penalties.
