NWFL Premiership: Edo Queens to start title defence against Abia Angels

Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership champions Edo Queens, will start their defense of the league title at home against Abia Angels.

This was confirmed during the Annual General Assembly (AGA) at Fabino by Toprank Hotels, Abuja on Tuesday.

The league will kick off on January 15, 2025, as 16 teams were drawn into two groups of eight.

Edo Queens, Abia Angels, Ekiti Queens, Heartland Queens, Confluence Queens, Remo Stars Ladies, Nasarawa Amazons, and Dannaz Ladies will trade tackles in Group A.

Group B houses Rivers Angels, Ibom Angels, Adamawa Queens, Naija Ratels FC, Honey Badgers FC, FC Robo Queens, Bayelsa Queens, and Delta Queens.

The top three teams from each group will make it to the season-ending NWFL Premiership Super Six Playoffs.

The winners of the league will be determined at the end of the Playoffs.

Last season, Edo Queens won their maiden league champions ahead of Rivers Angels and Bayelsa Queens in Yenegoa.

In the second tier league, Ibom Angels and Honey Badgers gained promotion to the top flight.
