Patrice Motsepe brings back Amaju Pinnick as Special Adviser at CAF

Former President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Melvin Pinnick, has made a dramatic return to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) as Special Adviser to CAF President, Dr. Patrice Motsepe.
Motsepe made the announcement on Friday during a press conference, which is still streaming live on YouTube. He revealed that Pinnick will now attend all CAF meetings in his new capacity as his adviser.
“I did not know Amaju is so loved in CAF,” Motsepe quipped, as he highlighted the wide support for Pinnick’s return.
Pinnick, who recently lost his seat on the FIFA Council by a single vote, was instrumental in Motsepe’s emergence as CAF President. He previously served as CAF First Vice President under former president Ahmad Ahmad, but has seen his influence in African football governance wane in recent years.
Motsepe described Pinnick’s appointment as a recognition of his contributions to the development of the game on the continent.
