By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde

Rwanda’s U-20 women’s national team has officially opened camp in Kigali as preparations intensify for their FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifier against Nigeria’s Falconets.

The players assembled over the weekend, with a squad drawn primarily from local clubs, while foreign-based stars are expected to join in the coming days.

Head coach Cassa set the tone on the opening day of training, urging the players to remain focused and fearless as they prepare to face Nigeria.

“Be fearless, be focused, obey the rhythm of tactics,” Cassa told the squad.

“We respect Nigeria, but we will not be intimidated. If we work hard and stick to the plan, we can make our nation proud.”

The technical crew has lined up intensive drills, fitness work, and tactical rehearsals in a bid to get the young Wasps fully prepared before the crucial tie.

Rwanda will host the first leg at the Kigali Stadium on September 21, with the return fixture scheduled a week later in Nigeria.

The aggregate winner will advance to the next stage of the African qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup.

Team officials expressed confidence in the squad’s ability to rise to the challenge and urged fans to come out in numbers to support the side in Kigali.
