Bayelsa Queens Send Strong Warning with State FA Cup Triumph

Bayelsa Queens Football Club have sent a clear message to their future opponents in the national Federation Cup after defeating Bayelsa Princesses 2-0 in the State FA Cup final.
The match, played at the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa on Saturday, April 26, 2026, saw the Prosperity Girls dominate proceedings despite missing several scoring chances.
Bayelsa Queens broke the deadlock just before halftime when Dooshima Tarnum unleashed a powerful long-range strike in the 45th minute, beating goalkeeper Esther Nnadiekwe to give her side a 1-0 lead at the break.
The second goal came in the 55th minute through Mirabel Irabor, effectively sealing the victory. Although Bayelsa Queens created numerous opportunities, Delight Isaac was unable to convert several clear chances, keeping the scoreline at two goals.
Bayelsa Princesses showed determination but were ultimately undone by their lack of experience, as they failed to find a way past their more seasoned opponents.
This victory marks an impressive eighth consecutive State FA Cup title for Bayelsa Queens, underlining their dominance in Bayelsa women’s football.
Speaking after the match, Technical Adviser Whyte Ogbonda expressed confidence in his team’s ambitions: “This season we want to achieve great things, that is what we have set our minds to do and by God’s grace it will be achieved.”
On the other side, Bayelsa Princesses coach Ogbodan Kingdom acknowledged the gulf in quality but praised his team’s effort: “Bayelsa Queens are the defending champions of the State FA Cup for almost a decade, so you don’t expect us to overcome them knowing the kind of quality they have.”
“I give kudos to my girls because they played to instructions and that reflected on the scoreline. So, in all, my girls tried.”
With this commanding performance, Bayelsa Queens now shift focus to the national stage, where they aim to extend their dominance and make a strong impact in the Federation Cup.
