Rivers Angels Edge FC Robo Queens 3-2 in Thrilling NWFL Super Six Opener

Rivers Angels kicked off their 2026 NWFL Premiership Super Six campaign with a hard-fought 3-2 victory over FC Robo Queens in an entertaining Matchday 1 encounter at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt.

The Jewel of Rivers made a bright start and took the lead in the 8th minute through Grace Saliu, who found the back of the net to put her side ahead. FC Robo Queens responded strongly, with Oluwakemi Adegbuyi restoring parity in the 22nd minute as both teams went into the break level at 1-1.

The second half produced even more drama as Rivers Angels regained control. Abasiofon Uwah fired the hosts back in front in the 65th minute before Ramotalahi Kareem extended the advantage just two minutes later, giving Rivers Angels a commanding 3-1 lead.

Robo Queens refused to surrender and Adegbuyi grabbed her second goal of the match in the 80th minute to reduce the deficit. Despite late pressure from the Lagos-based side, Rivers Angels held firm to secure all three points.

The five-goal thriller provided an exciting start to the Super Six tournament, with Rivers Angels opening their title chase on a winning note while FC Robo Queens earned plaudits for a spirited performance despite the defeat.
