Vozinha heads to Chile as Colo-Colo move casts doubt over Moroccan transfer
Vozinha, the 40-year-old Cape Verde goalkeeper, appears to be on his way to Chile to complete a move to Colo-Colo, raising fresh doubts over his reported transfer to Moroccan club Nahdat Berkane.
Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano posted a photograph of Vozinha inside an aircraft on his official X account and said: “Vozinha is on his way to Chile to complete his move to Colo-Colo.”
The development has added further uncertainty to the veteran goalkeeper’s future. Vozinha had been the subject of reports linking him with a move to the Moroccan league in recent days, with negotiations with Nahdat Berkane understood to have reached an advanced stage.
According to Globo Esporte, which cited journalist Rafael Bozio, Nahdat Berkane were working to settle the final details of an agreement with the goalkeeper. The Moroccan club’s interest came as part of an effort to strengthen their squad, while they were also negotiating with Cape Verde manager Bubista.
Bubista led Cape Verde at the World Cup, and his possible involvement was reported alongside Nahdat Berkane’s pursuit of Vozinha.
Colo-Colo had previously announced that they had signed Vozinha. The Chilean club published a photograph of the goalkeeper on its official social media accounts with the message: “Welcome, we are waiting for you at Estadio Monumental.”
However, the move had become unclear over the past few days after Vozinha’s arrival in Chile was postponed on more than one occasion. Those delays created the possibility that he could change his plans and instead join Nahdat Berkane.
Earlier reports suggested Vozinha was waiting for a formal offer from the Moroccan club before making a final decision about his next move. His reported journey to Chile now indicates that the proposed transfer to the Moroccan league may have collapsed or moved further away from completion.
For now, Vozinha’s arrival in Chile and the completion of the formalities for his move to Colo-Colo represent the clearest indication of his next destination. Only a few days ago, the goalkeeper appeared to be heading towards a new challenge in Morocco.
The latest update therefore appears to revive Colo-Colo’s deal after a period of uncertainty surrounding the transfer. It also leaves Nahdat Berkane’s reported pursuit of the experienced Cape Verde international in doubt, despite the advanced talks previously reported between the two parties.
