Bayern Munich chief gives cautious Michael Olise update amid Real Madrid rumours
Bayern Munich chief executive Jan-Christian Dreesen says there was no truth in reports linking Michael Olise with a move away from the club during the summer transfer window.
Dreesen also refused to guarantee that the France international will remain at Bayern Munich beyond next summer, saying the club will review the situation when the transfer window approaches.
Reports earlier in the summer claimed Real Madrid were interested in signing Olise, but Dreesen said Bayern had received no offer for the winger and had no intention of discussing his departure.
“This simply was not true. That is why I said so publicly. It simply was not true. We had no offer on the table. And we always said that we were not interested,” Dreesen told German website SPORT1.
He added: “That is exactly our position. Olise is extremely important for this team. He is magical on the pitch.”
Asked whether Bayern could ensure that the 23-year-old would stay at the club permanently, Dreesen said: “Making promises in this area is complicated. Whether we will be able to keep him permanently is something we will discuss again in the summer.”
Olise joined Bayern Munich from Crystal Palace during the summer of 2024 and quickly established himself as an important member of the squad. His performances have fuelled speculation about interest from leading European clubs, including Real Madrid, but Bayern’s chief executive insisted that no formal approach had been made.
Dreesen was also asked about the future of Harry Kane, whose contract negotiations with Bayern Munich are continuing.
“Our relationship is calm. It is clear that both sides want it,” he said, indicating that the club and the England captain are both keen to continue their agreement.
However, Dreesen declined to discuss whether the length of a potential new contract was proving difficult during the talks.
“That is one of the small details that I will not discuss here,” he said.
Kane joined Bayern Munich from Tottenham Hotspur in 2023 and remains central to the club’s plans, while Olise has become another key attacking option. Dreesen’s comments suggest that Bayern are comfortable with the progress of discussions involving Kane, although the precise terms of any renewal have not been revealed.
Bayern Munich are preparing to begin their campaign in the new edition of the Champions League. They will host Norwegian club Bodø/Glimt next Thursday in their opening match of the competition.
The Bavarian club’s immediate focus is therefore on its European opener, while questions over Olise’s longer-term future and Kane’s contract remain unresolved until further discussions take place in the summer.
