Rasheedat Ajibade undergoes successful surgery after Nigeria injury

Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade has undergone successful surgery after sustaining an injury while representing Nigeria in their 2028 Olympic Games qualifying campaign.

The 26-year-old forward was injured during the second leg of Nigeria’s second-round qualifying tie against Comoros on Tuesday.

Ajibade is expected to spend time out of action while she begins her rehabilitation, but no precise timeframe has been given for her return.

The Nigeria international confirmed that the operation had been completed in a post on Instagram. She also thanked supporters for their messages, prayers and encouragement.

“Surgery done. Recovery mode on. Thank you all for the love and prayers. Back soon for His greater glory,” she wrote.

Neither Ajibade nor her club has provided official details about the nature of the injury, the expected length of her recovery or when she will be available to play again.

Her absence will leave Nigeria without their captain as preparations continue following the Olympic qualifying fixture against Comoros.
