Barcelona fans unveil ‘Batec blaugrana’ mosaic before El Clasico

Barcelona’s players were given a striking show of support before Sunday’s El Clasico against Real Madrid at Camp Nou, with supporters unveiling a huge mosaic immediately before kick-off.

The display covered the first and second tiers of the stadium and was made up of blue and red cards. It carried the message “Batec blaugrana”, meaning “blue and red heartbeats”.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the design also featured waves symbolising the beating hearts and passion of Barcelona supporters as they waited for the meeting with their long-standing rivals.

The mosaic was the second to be displayed at Camp Nou since the stadium was renovated. The first was unveiled last season for another El Clasico between Barcelona and Real Madrid.

On that occasion, blue and red banners formed the Barcelona crest and the message “Forca Barca”, while the Catalan flag, known as the Senyera, was displayed in the southern stand.

Barcelona entered the 10th round of La Liga as leaders, having collected the maximum 28 points. Real Madrid were third in the table, six points behind them.
