Al Ahli Saudi reject reports of talks with candidates for sporting director role

Al Ahli Saudi have denied reports that they are negotiating with several candidates to become the club’s new sporting director.

A source close to the club’s new administration told Kooora that the names being discussed in reports were not under consideration.

“There is absolutely no truth in the club negotiating with some of the names being circulated. This is completely unfounded,” the source said.

The source also said the club would not consider candidates who were subject to allegations of corruption.

“It is entirely impossible for names surrounded by suspicions of corruption to be included among the candidates for the position,” the source added.

“The administration and the chief executive are placing the highest standards of transparency and integrity at the heart of the search and selection process for the new sporting director.”

Al Ahli Saudi said two days ago that it was conducting the search with the highest levels of professionalism and expertise.

The club stressed that it would not rush into appointing a prominent name simply for the sake of it. Instead, the selection process would be based on the highest professional standards, with careful consideration for the club’s history, current position and future.

Osama Hawsawi, who had been serving as Al Ahli Saudi’s sporting director on an interim basis, formally resigned on 27 September after only 24 days in the role.

The club is now searching for a permanent replacement.
