Future Eagles held by Gambia in third straight draw at FIFA U-15 World Cup

Nigeria’s Future Eagles remain without a victory at the inaugural FIFA U-15 World Cup & Festival after drawing 3-3 with The Gambia in Baku, Azerbaijan, on Sunday evening.

The result was their third consecutive draw in the competition, following a 3-3 stalemate with South Sudan on Saturday and a 2-2 draw against Jordan earlier on Sunday.

Nigeria displayed their attacking threat once again at the Hovsan Competition Complex, but were unable to protect their lead in the eight-a-side format, which consists of two 20-minute halves.

The Future Eagles have now taken three points from three matches in Group AD. They have scored eight goals and conceded eight, leaving them still in contention for their eventual tier placement.

Nigeria must now turn their remaining draws into victories on Monday if they are to end the group stage strongly.

They will play Cyprus at 8:30am before completing their Group AD fixtures against Pakistan at 3:15pm.

The results in the group stage will determine which tier each team enters in the second phase, scheduled for October 28 and 29. The tier finals will be played on October 30.
