Achraf Hakimi’s new braids draw a witty response after Paris Saint-Germain win

Morocco international Achraf Hakimi attracted attention on social media after Paris Saint-Germain beat Lyon 2-0 in Ligue 1 on Monday evening.
Hakimi captained the side in the absence of Marquinhos and appeared with a new hairstyle featuring braids. The change quickly became a talking point beyond the result at the end of the match.
The official Ligue 1 account joined in with a light-hearted message on social media, writing: “New haircut, but the same great elegance.”
Hakimi responded shortly afterwards in a similarly playful tone. “Tight braids, just like my attachment to Paris,” he posted, adding a laughing emoji.
The defender’s new look was one of the most discussed aspects of the match online, while his performance against Lyon also included some uncharacteristic technical errors.
Hakimi had been absent from the Ballon d’Or ceremony in London. He finished 13th in the world ranking, a position that may appear harsh in view of his season, despite the mistakes he made against Lyon.
Paris Saint-Germain’s Ligue 1 schedule also lists a fixture involving Le Havre on 30 October 2026, followed by Paris Saint-Germain and Lyon, and a fixture involving Angers on 01 November 2026.
