Barcelona end 575-day wait for Champions League clean sheet

Barcelona ended an 18-match run without a clean sheet in the UEFA Champions League by beating Aston Villa 3-0 on Tuesday.
The victory came in the fourth round of the league phase and gave the Spanish club their first shutout in the competition since a 4-0 win over Borussia Dortmund on 9 April 2025.
According to MisterChip statistics, 575 days had passed between the two clean sheets. The result also brought to an end the longest run of its kind recorded by a Spanish club in European competition.
Barcelona’s strong home record against English opposition was further underlined by the result. They have now played 46 matches against English clubs at home in European competitions, losing only twice.
Both of those defeats came against Liverpool, highlighting the difficulty English sides have faced when visiting Barcelona.
Squawka statistics show that Barcelona have avoided defeat in their past 16 home matches against English clubs, winning 11 and drawing five.
