Nigerian striker, Ademola Lookman has etched his name in gold as one of celebrated Super Eagles’ players to have graced the Africa Cup of Nations, following his scintillating performance against Angola on Friday.
The Atalanta forward scored the only goal that helped the Super Eagles recorded a deserved 1-0 win over the Angolans in the quarter final of the tournament at the Felix Houphet Boigney Stadium in Abidjan.
The goal against the Palancas Negras off a brilliant cut back pass from eventual man-of-the-match, Moses Simon has taken Lookman’s tally at the tournament to three.
The lone goal has also made him the fourth Nigerian to have scored three or more goals in the knockout stages of a single AFCON edition after Odion Ighalo in 2019, Austin Okocha in 2004 and Rashidi Yekini in 1994.
The former Everton forward has been involved in four goals for Nigeria’s six at the tournament and has earned him on player of the match award.
Nigeria will be waiting for the winner between Cape Verde and South Africa for their semi final duel as they keep on the dream to achieve their fourth AFCON title.
