Charlton Athletic Football Club held a special AFCON event that celebrates the achievements of two of its academy products, Ademola Lookman and Joe Aribo.
The English club opened its door to fans for a live screening of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final on Sunday night.
Lookman and Aribo both spent time at Charlton, developing into professionals with the help of the former Premier League regulars.
Lookman was on Charlton’s books from 2013 to 2017 including two years at the club’s academy, while Aribo spent four years between 2015 and 2019 at the Valley.
The duo are integral to the Nigeria squad’s journey to the final. Sadly, Cote d’Ivoire defeated Nigeria 2-1 in the final at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium, Ebimpe, Abidjan.
The live screening event at The Valley offers Charlton fans a unique opportunity to gather in solidarity, cheering for Lookman, Aribo, and the Super Eagles.
This reinforces the importance of club heritage in shaping the careers of footballers who dream of making it big on the international scene.
