Al-Ittihad captain Ahmed Sharahili set for return after international break

Al-Ittihad defender Ahmed Sharahili is expected to return after the next international break, having completed his rehabilitation and moved closer to making his first appearance of the current season.
The Saudi newspaper Al Riyadiyah reports that Al-Ittihad head coach Jens Wissing will be able to call on the Saudi defender once the international window, known as the “Fifa virus” period, has ended.
Sharahili suffered a tear to the peroneus longus tendon in his left ankle in July while following an individual fitness programme with his personal coach. The 32-year-old has since undergone an extended rehabilitation programme and is now considered ready to play.
His availability would provide a significant boost to Wissing, with Sharahili regarded as one of Al-Ittihad’s leading figures and the club having faced defensive shortages since the start of the season.
Sharahili returned to action for “the Tigers” last season after recovering from surgery on an anterior cruciate ligament injury. However, he suffered another setback before the current campaign began and has not yet featured this season.
He made 20 appearances for the Saudi club last season but did not score or provide an assist.
Al-Ittihad are listed in the Saudi Pro League schedule alongside Neom for 06 November 2026.
