Ibrahim Diaz given chance to revive Real Madrid season against AEK Athens

Ibrahim Diaz could be handed a rare start for Real Madrid against AEK Athens in the Champions League on Wednesday as he looks to revive his season under Jose Mourinho.
The Morocco international has made only seven appearances in all competitions this season, totalling 233 minutes, and does not currently occupy a prominent position in Mourinho’s plans.
According to Spanish newspaper AS, Diaz may start on the right wing against the Greek club. His potential inclusion is linked to the technical decision to leave Arda Guler out, while Diomande could also be rested.
Diaz has made limited appearances since the start of the campaign and is keen to establish himself as a regular in Mourinho’s team. However, the report says the player lacks confidence at present.
A starting place in the Champions League could provide the boost Diaz needs to rediscover his best form and show the quality he displayed previously.
Real Madrid’s match against AEK Athens comes amid a schedule that also lists Valencia in La Liga for 07 November 2026. AEK Athens are listed alongside Real Madrid, while the Greek Super League schedule includes Levadiakos on 08 November 2026.
