Al Shabab forward Hamam Al-Hamami faces Al-Ittihad absence after Saudi Arabia injury

Al Shabab forward Hamam Al-Hamami is a doubt for next week’s Roshn Saudi League meeting with Al-Ittihad after suffering a second-degree muscle tear while playing for Saudi Arabia at Gulf Cup 27.
Al Shabab announced on its official X account that Al-Hamami will undergo a treatment and rehabilitation programme supervised by the club’s medical staff. The statement, posted on 10 October 2026, said the injury occurred during the player’s involvement with the Saudi Arabia national team in the tournament.
The injury rules the young Saudi winger out of Al Shabab’s match against Al Taawoun in Riyadh on Sunday, in the eighth round of the Roshn Saudi League.
However, the more significant concern for Al Shabab is the possibility that Al-Hamami will also miss Friday’s fixture against Al-Ittihad. The Riyadh side are due to travel to Jeddah for the ninth-round match, which will be played at Alinma Stadium.
Al-Hamami was a key figure in Saudi Arabia’s Gulf Cup 27 triumph, helping the team win the title for the first time in 23 years. His performances also earned him the tournament’s best player award.
The club’s medical update confirmed that his recovery will be managed by Al Shabab’s medical team, with the extent of his absence to depend on his rehabilitation programme.
