Cameroon’s women’s national team goalkeeper Ange Bawou displayed remarkable grace in defeat following a 2-0 loss to Nigeria’s Super Falcons, recognizing the caliber of both teams and the ongoing progress of her squad.

“Thank you very much for the privilege; I can’t take it for granted,” Bawou stated during post-match press conference.

A brace by Nigeria captain, Rasheedat Ajibade ensured that Justine Madugu’s side secured a win.

“Both teams possess quality, and Nigeria and Cameroon consistently engage in a fierce contest. We are eager to assess our position in the development of a new team.” Bawou continued.

The shot-stopper exhibited poise in defeat, sending heartfelt wishes to their opponents.

“For Nigeria, I wish them all the best for WAFCON 2024. May God bless them, be with them, and may they have a successful competition.”

Despite the outcome, the former Bayelsa Queens goalie emphasized the importance of reflection and improvement.

“As a player, we always strive for victory. When faced with a loss, it is essential to reflect. My team and I will work on it. Perhaps next time, we will secure a win against the Super Falcons.” She concluded.
