Bruno Guimaraes plans leg tattoos if Arsenal deliver ‘golden era’ of trophies

Bruno Guimaraes says he has plenty of room on his leg for tattoos celebrating Arsenal’s future success after joining the club from Newcastle United in a £75m deal.

The Brazil international is excited to become part of Mikel Arteta’s project and wants to help Arsenal create a “golden era” by winning every trophy available to them.

Arsenal began their Premier League title defence with a 3-0 victory over Coventry City at Emirates Stadium. That result came only a few days after they beat Manchester City by the same score in Cardiff to win the Community Shield.

Guimaraes missed the opening league fixture because of a minor lower-abdominal injury suffered during the match against Manchester City. He said he was continuing to adapt to a new working environment and to his Arsenal team-mates.

Speaking to Men In Blazers on YouTube, the midfielder stressed that he was prepared to play anywhere in midfield if that was what Arteta required.

“I made it completely clear that I am ready to play in any position the manager chooses. We do not put limits on our ambitions; we are competing for every trophy, and the quality this team possesses gives us a great opportunity to win several titles,” he said.

Guimaraes also outlined the honours he wants to add to his collection, telling Men In Blazers, as reported by The Sun: “I would like to win the Premier League, the Champions League, the FA Cup and the League Cup; everything is possible. All I want is to win, whatever happens. As I said, I am a very competitive person and every competition is hugely important to me.”

The Brazilian said Premier League and Champions League success would carry particular significance, although he has not yet decided exactly where he would commemorate any triumphs.

“Winning the Premier League and the Champions League would naturally feel especially special. I have a lot of space for trophy tattoos. I do not know exactly where I will put them, but perhaps on my leg,” he added.

Guimaraes also explained how his shirt number and his father’s story continue to motivate him.

“My shirt number and the story my father lived through give me twice as much inspiration. Every time I wear this shirt, I remind myself where I came from and where my family came from; not only my father, but my mother and everyone else. They give me the motivation to keep going and the passion to succeed, no matter what,” he said.

The midfielder wants to pass that determination on to his own children.

“That is the mentality I want to instil in my children when they grow up. My family has come a very long way, and now it is time to move forward and develop even further. My father always believed in me, and so did my mother. When I wanted to give up as a child, and when I suffered my first setbacks in my career, they told me: ‘No, you will not give up.’ That was a decisive moment, and today I describe myself as a warrior because I have gone through many difficult circumstances and hardships in my life,” he said.

Arsenal are preparing to face Aston Villa next Monday. England defender Ezri Konsa could make his debut against his former club after joining the Gunners in a £51m transfer.
