CAF unveils venues for 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco

By Dayo Awoniyi

The Confederation of African Football (CAF), in partnership with the Morocco Local Organizing Committee, has officially announced the six venues that will host the 2025 TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

The tournament is scheduled to take place from July 5 to 26, 2025, and will mark a historic milestone as the first edition to feature more than three host venues.

Among the selected stadiums is the newly constructed Olympic Stadium in Rabat, a state-of-the-art facility with a capacity of 21,000.

This stadium is also slated to host matches during the 2025 CAF Africa Cup of Nations, which will be held later in December.

Casablanca will stage games at two locations: the Larbi Zaouli Stadium, which temporarily serves as home to top clubs Raja and Wydad Casablanca with a capacity of 45,800, and the Père Jégo Stadium, a 10,000-seater named after the iconic former Morocco national team manager.

The El Bachir Stadium in Mohammédia, originally built in 1954 and renovated in 2019, will also serve as a venue with a seating capacity of 15,000.

In eastern Morocco, Oujda’s Honor Stadium, known for its 35,000-seat capacity and history of hosting international fixtures, will join the lineup.

Rounding out the list is the Berkane Stadium, a 12,000-capacity ground that has previously hosted international matches and CAF interclub competitions.

CAF noted that the expanded number of venues underscores both the growing profile of women’s football in Africa and Morocco’s readiness to deliver a world-class tournament.

This announcement comes as Morocco prepares to become the first African nation to host back-to-back major continental competitions, with WAFCON in July followed by the men’s Africa Cup of Nations in December.

Further details, including group venues, and ticketing information, are expected to be released by CAF in the coming months.
