Unity Cup 2025: Nigeria vs Ghana – Kick-off time and where to watch

By Monsurah Olatunji

African football’s fiercest rivalry returns this week as Nigeria and Ghana face off in the semi-finals of the 2025 Unity Cup—a tournament designed to celebrate the rich cultural and sporting heritage of African and Caribbean communities in the United Kingdom.

The highly anticipated clash between the Super Eagles and the Black Stars will take place on Wednesday, May 28, at the GTECH Community Stadium in West London, with kick-off set for 7:00 PM Nigerian time.

The fixture comes just over a year after the sides last met in the “Jollof Derby”—a March 2024 friendly in Morocco that ended in a 2-1 win for Nigeria.

Their previous competitive meeting was during the 2022 World Cup qualifiers, where Ghana progressed on away goals after a 1-1 aggregate draw.

In total, the two West African powerhouses have clashed 56 times, with Ghana leading the all-time record with 25 wins, compared to Nigeria’s 13, while 19 matches have ended in draws.

The semi-final promises to be another dramatic chapter in their storied rivalry.

The Unity Cup, held in London, features four teams: Nigeria (ranked 44th in the latest FIFA rankings), Jamaica (62nd), Ghana (77th), and Trinidad & Tobago (102nd).

The tournament kicked off on Tuesday, May 27, with Jamaica facing Trinidad & Tobago in the first semi-final.

Following the semi-finals, the third-place match and the final will both be held on Saturday, May 31, capping off a week of celebration, unity, and elite football.
