FC Barcelona name EgyptAir as official airline partner until 2029
FC Barcelona have agreed a partnership with EgyptAir that will make the Egyptian company the exclusive official airline of the club’s men’s first team, basketball team and handball team until the end of the 2028-29 season.
The agreement was announced by the Egyptian Cabinet on its official Facebook page. As part of the deal, the EgyptAir logo will appear on the shirt of FC Barcelona’s handball team.
The partnership represents a significant commercial association between one of the world’s best-known sporting clubs and Egypt’s national airline. The Egyptian government said the agreement was an unprecedented achievement in EgyptAir’s history.
“Sponsoring one of the oldest sporting clubs in the world is an unprecedented achievement in the history of EgyptAir,” the statement said.
It added: “This agreement forms part of EgyptAir’s plan to expand its fleet and international route network, and is evidence of the company’s commitment to continuing to improve its services.”
The announcement covers three of FC Barcelona’s main sporting sections, with the airline becoming the club’s exclusive official carrier during the period specified in the agreement. The arrangement will run through the conclusion of the 2028-29 campaign.
Egyptian connection at Barcelona
FC Barcelona currently have 18-year-old Egypt international forward Hamza Abdelkarim in their squad.
The Catalan club recently defeated Egyptian side Al Ahly 2-1 in the Joan Gamper Trophy. That match was their final friendly before the start of the new season.
FC Barcelona then began their La Liga campaign with a 5-0 victory over Elche on Sunday in the second round of the competition.
The new commercial relationship therefore comes at a time when the club’s football team have made a strong start to the season, while also highlighting the existing link between FC Barcelona and Egypt through Abdelkarim.
The agreement is also part of a wider effort by EgyptAir to extend its international presence. According to the Egyptian Cabinet’s statement, the company intends to use its partnerships and operations to support the expansion of its fleet and network, while continuing to develop the services it provides.
No further financial details or specific travel arrangements connected to the partnership were included in the announcement. The confirmed branding element concerns FC Barcelona’s handball team, whose shirt will carry the EgyptAir logo.
The deal places EgyptAir alongside FC Barcelona’s three teams covered by the agreement and secures its status as the exclusive official airline partner until the end of the 2028-29 season.
