Germany beat Serbia 2-0 to give Jurgen Klopp his first win as manager

Germany secured their first victory under Jurgen Klopp with a dominant 2-0 win over Serbia at the Allianz Arena in Munich on Thursday.
The hosts started at pace in the third round of the League A group stage in the Nations League, repeatedly threatening the Serbia defence. Nick Woltemade came close to opening the scoring when his header went just wide of the goal.
Germany’s pressure eventually paid off in the 39th minute. Bayern Munich midfielder Tom Bischof reacted quickest after the ball rebounded off the post and fired into the net to put the home side ahead.
It was Bischof’s first senior international goal.
Germany continued to control the match after the interval and doubled their advantage in the 61st minute. Liverpool forward Florian Wirtz produced an excellent first touch to bring the ball under control before finishing confidently.
The second goal further strengthened Germany’s grip on the game. Serbia struggled to create a meaningful opportunity against Bayern Munich goalkeeper Jonas Urbig, while Klopp’s side remained in command until the final whistle.
The result gives Germany four points from their opening three matches and moves them into third place in the group. The Netherlands are second on five points, while Greece lead the standings with seven. Serbia remain bottom without a point.
Germany had begun their Nations League campaign with a 1-1 draw away to the Netherlands before suffering a surprise 1-0 home defeat by Greece.
The victory therefore represents a partial recovery for Klopp’s side, who were unable to turn their early attacking pressure into a goal until Bischof’s breakthrough shortly before half-time.
In the other match played on Thursday, the Netherlands staged a comeback in Greece to draw 2-2 after falling two goals behind.
