Heartland and Kwara United share spoils in rescheduled NPFL match

Kwara United forced Heartland FC to a 1-1 draw in a rescheduled Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) contest in Owerri on Thursday.

The two Nigerian top-flight sides had almost similar form ahead of their match with the host winning two of their previous five games with three losses.

For the Harmony Boys, they had two wins with a draw and two losses ahead of the tie.

After a barren first 45 minutes, Tope Akande gave struggling Heartland the lead nine minutes into the second half.

The lead, however, only lasted six minutes for the hosts as Godwin Oshagbemi bagged the equalised for the Ilorin-based side.

With the spoils shared, Kwara United occupy the 12th position with 23 after 19 games.

Hearland sits in the 20th position battling relegations waters with 17 points from 19 matches.

Up next for Heartland is another home game against Kano Pillars, while Kwara United will visit Akure to face Sunshine Stars. Both matches will take place on February 4, 2024.
