Portuguese tactician, Jose Peseiro, has put an end to speculations surrounding his potential return as the coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria.

Peseiro departed from the role following the conclusion of his contract last month, having guided the team to a commendable second-place finish in the recently concluded African Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament held in Ivory Coast.

While there were rumors suggesting a possible return for Peseiro to lead the three-time AFCON winners, the coach has clarified that his tenure with the Super Eagles has reached its conclusion.

He expressed appreciation for the opportunity to work with such talented players and declared his readiness to embark on a new project.

“As I said, my work with the Super Eagles is over. It was gratifying to coach players of such quality. With my staff, we managed to achieve success in this regard, but the time has come to move on to another project,” Peseiro stated in an interview with Sports Italia.

Currently, the Super Eagles are without a head coach, and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is in the process of considering candidates for the position.

While several local coaches have thrown their hats into the ring for the coveted role, the NFF is expected to announce a new coach by April.
