Macleans Chinonyerem pens emotional farewell message to Lokomotiv Moscow

Nigeria forward Macleans Chinonyerem is set to depart the Russian women’s side, Lokomotiv Moscow.

Before her exit, the Nigeria international, who returned from the Paris 2024 Olympics penned an emotional farewell message to the club as she planned to embark on another challenge.

“Dear Lokomotiv family, As I prepare to leave this amazing club, I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you,” She wrote.

“From the moment I joined, I knew I had found a special community, and I have been constantly inspired by the passion, dedication, and camaraderie that defines us.

“I have grown so much as a player and as a person during my time here, and I will always cherish the memories, lessons, and friendships I’ve made. From the thrilling victories to the tough defeats, we’ve shared it all, and I’m honored to have been a part of it.

The Super Falcons forward previously played for Bobruichanka (Belarus), Stomilanki (Poland) and emerged as Polish Ekstraliga’s top goal scorer with Leczna at the end of the 2021/2022 season with 20 goals.

Her superb performance for Leczna led to an invitation to the national team for the 2022 Women Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), where she made her debut against Botswana in the group stage.

She also made the squad for the Paris 2024 Olympics but was not featured in Nigeria’s three group games against Brazil, Spain, and Japan.

From Leczan, Macleans joined Lokomotiv Moscow and spent two seasons before her departure.
