Man United target Frenkie de Jong confirms crunch talks with manager Xavi

Manchester United target Frenkie de Jong has confirmed that he had crunch talks with FC Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez.

There have been reports that de Jong isn’t happy at Camp Nou owing to his lack of more game time at the club and was seemingly angry after being taken off in the 60th minute of the defeat to Rayo Vallecano last week.

After their win over Mallorca on Sunday, the Dutchman has now revealed that he had a face-to-face meeting with Xavi about the situation and that they were on good terms.

“The conversation was good. The coach told me he has confidence in me and I’m confident as well. Everyone is happy. Pressure is always good, it’s never too much,” De Jong told Movistar.

The player however didn’t hide his frustrations about their poor season after Real Madrid was crowned the Champions on Saturday.

“We have not been good this year,” he said. “Now we are second and the objective is to stay there,” he added.

There have been claims that the midfielder is keen on reuniting with Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford following with the pair working previously at Ajax.
