Edo Queens Clinch Second NWFL Premiership Title

Edo Queens have been crowned champions of the 2025/26 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership following a hard-fought 0-0 draw against Bayelsa Queens on the final matchday of the Super Six playoffs at Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt on Sunday.
Bayelsa Queens entered the decisive encounter needing an outright victory to claim the title, while Edo Queens required only a draw to secure the championship. The Benin City side successfully achieved their objective in a tense contest that saw both teams create opportunities in search of a breakthrough.
The result ensured Edo Queens reclaimed the league crown, marking their second NWFL title and their second championship in the last six seasons. Their latest triumph places them alongside Bayelsa Queens as the only clubs to have won two league titles during that period.
The victory also further cemented the reputation of head coach Moses Aduku, who became the first manager to win three league titles within the last six seasons. Aduku previously guided Bayelsa Queens to the championship in 2022 before leading Edo Queens to title successes in 2024 and now 2026.
As league champions, Edo Queens will represent Nigeria at the WAFU-B Women’s Champions League qualifiers in Burkina Faso, where they will compete for a place in the CAF Women’s Champions League and a pathway to the FIFA Women’s Club World Cup.
In other Super Six fixtures, Nasarawa Amazons and hosts Rivers Angels settled for a goalless draw, while FC Robo Queens came from behind to earn a 1-1 draw against Abia Angels. Winner David gave Abia Angels the lead before Opeyemi Ajakaye restored parity for FC Robo Queens.
Edo Queens finished at the summit of the Super Six standings with 10 points, ending the competition two points ahead of both Bayelsa Queens and Nasarawa Amazons. Abia Angels concluded the tournament with six points, while FC Robo Queens and Rivers Angels finished with four points each.
