Nigeria striker Sunday Megwo joins ES Sahel from Abia Warriors

Nigeria centre-forward Sunday Megwo has joined Tunisian club ES Sahel from Abia Warriors, completing a move from the Nigerian Professional Football League to Ligue 1.

Megwo, 22, joined the Tunisian side on 22 August 2026 and has a contract running until 30 June 2028. The transfer marks his move outside Nigeria after establishing himself with Abia Warriors.

The right-footed forward made 84 NPFL appearances for Abia Warriors, scoring 27 goals and providing eight assists. He also played twice in the CAF Confederation Cup, although he did not score in those appearances.

Megwo began his senior club career with Abia Comets FC before moving to Abia Warriors in March 2023. He spent more than three seasons with Warriors before switching to ES Sahel, one of Tunisia’s established clubs.

Standing 1.82 metres tall, Megwo operates primarily as a centre-forward. His arrival gives ES Sahel a new option in attack as the club prepares to continue its campaign in Tunisia’s top flight.

The move also takes Megwo into a different domestic football environment after his appearances in the NPFL and continental competition with Abia Warriors. His record in Nigeria includes more than 6,800 minutes of league football, with a goal scored approximately every 253 minutes.

ES Sahel have secured the services of the 22-year-old until the end of June 2028, with Megwo now contracted to the Tunisian club.
