Noah Atubolu: Juventus eye move for Freiburg’s Germany-Nigeria goalkeeper

Juventus are weighing up a move for Germany-Nigeria goalkeeper Noah Atubolu from Freiburg as the Serie A club explore options to strengthen their long-term goalkeeping department. The 24-year-old, who is under contract with the Bundesliga side until 30 June 2027, has emerged as a potential target following his rise to the No 1 role at his hometown club.

Atubolu, valued at around €25 million, has progressed through Freiburg’s ranks after joining their youth system from Freiburger FC and making the step up to the first team in July 2021. He has since established himself as Freiburg’s first-choice goalkeeper, wearing the No 1 shirt and featuring regularly in the Bundesliga.

Juventus’ interest comes as recruitment staff in Turin look towards goalkeepers with top-flight experience and resale value, with Atubolu’s age and contract length likely to make any deal a significant investment. Freiburg are under no immediate pressure to sell, given the duration of his current agreement and his status within the squad.

Born in Freiburg im Breisgau in May 2002 and standing at 1.90m, Atubolu has also been recognised at youth level, collecting the Fritz Walter Bronze medal in 2023, an award that highlights standout young players in German football. He was part of the Freiburg side that reached the German Cup final in 2021-22, finishing as runners-up.

For now, Atubolu remains tied to Freiburg until 2027, leaving Juventus to decide whether to formalise their interest with an offer that reflects his contract situation and rising market value.
