Enyimba FC’s Technical Adviser, Stanley Eguma, has warned his team against complacency despite their recent upturn in form, following two consecutive victories in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
The People’s Elephant secured a hard-fought 2-1 win over Nasarawa United in a rescheduled Matchday 17 fixture in Aba on Wednesday.
Goals from Joseph Atule and substitute Brown Ideye helped Enyimba maintain their momentum, with Anas Yusuf scoring the lone goal for the visitors.
While he appreciated the efforts of his players and the opportunity provided by the management, Eguma emphasized the importance of maintaining focus and continuing their improvement.
“Since we began, we have been rebuilding, so it’s not yet uhuru; it’s not yet time for celebration. A lot still needs to be done,” Eguma told reporters in Aba.
The nine-time NPFL champions have now moved up to seventh on the log with 27 points, but Eguma made it clear that the team’s journey is far from complete.
Enyimba still have two outstanding fixtures to play, with their next match against Kwara United scheduled for next week, followed by a clash with Kano Pillars.
Despite the positive results, Eguma’s message is clear: the rebuilding process is ongoing, and the team must stay grounded and focused on the task ahead.
