Technical Adviser of Niger Tornadoes, Hamza Abara has expressed his frustration for his side’s inability to record victory against Enyimba in their goaless draw in the Nigeria Premier Football League game on Wednesday.
The reigning Nigerian champions escaped Tornadoes’ onslaught by sharing the spoils in a match that produced few or less sparkling moments.
However, it was Tornadoes who had upper hands in the match and could have snatched the match points no thanks to cautious defending and brilliant goalkeeping of Enyimba defense and keeper.
The draw ended Tornadoes’ hundred percent home runs in the current campaign.
A disappointing Abara told the club media the his side were unlucky to convert their chances even as he blamed fatigue for not raising their game as expected in the second half.
“It was a bad day for us, we planned for the game but unfortunately our plans didn’t work, this is one of those things in football,”
“Nevertheless, we have a match by the weekend we will push to equally get something out of the game,” he said.
Asked why the Ikon Allah Boys are yet to hit the form expected, the former Sokoto United coach explained that the young team will take time to blend and grow into the league but optimistic of positive turnaround.
“We have so many young players in the team who are trying to adapt to our style of play and another factor that affected us was fatigue; we took off from Lagos around 4am on Monday and arrived Kaduna 10:30pm, the stress took a toll on the players.
“Overall I’ll give kudos to the them for a job well done, at least we didn’t concede a goal neither did we lost.”
“We are going to Ibadan this weekend and I simply believe we are going to get something out of the game, we will keep pushing.”
