By Oyediji Oluwaseun Babatunde
Abuja-based Naija Ratels joined five other teams to qualify for the season-ending Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership Super Six Playoffs for the 2024/25 season after a 0-0 draw with Bayelsa Queens on the final regular season Matchday on Wednesday.
The host needed a draw to qualify for the  Playoffs and secured the result against the only unbeaten team in the league.
The feat marked Naija Ratel’s second qualification for the Playoffs since 2022 when the team made their debut in the top flight.
They joined holders Edo Queens, Remo Stars Ladies, Nasarawa Amazons, Bayelsa Queens, and Rivers Angels in making it to the title-deciding NWFL Premiership Super Six Playoffs in Ikenne.
Elsewhere, FC Robo Queens could not make it to the Playoffs despite a 2-1 win over Delta Queens in Lagos.
Inusa Netifatu (own goal) and Mariam Yahaya lifted the Lagos Landladies to victory despite Priscilla Omeje’s equalizer for the Pearls.
Emmanuel Osahon’s side missed out on the Playoffs by a point after ending the regular season with 22 points, one behind Naija Ratels.
Elsewhere, Heartland Queens, Remo Stars Ladies, Adamawa Queens, Rivers Angels, Edo Queens, and Ekiti Queens ended the regular season on a high.
A brace from Faith Samson propelled Heartland Queens to a 2-1 victory against Nasarawa Amazons, while Kesiena Ojiyovwi reduced the deficit for the Solid Babes.
In Ikenne, Playoffs host, Remo Stars Ladies thrashed their South West neighbours, Dannaz Ladies 5-0. Kafayat Bashiru and Olamide Bolaji bagged braces for the Sky Blue Ladies as Opeyemi Sunday completed the rout.
In Numan, Adamawa Queens secured a 3-1 win over Ibom Angels. Onyinyechi Onah, Anastasia Terfa, and Blessing Sule scored for Fintiri Queens while Abasiofon Uwah found the back of the net for the visitors.
In Port Harcourt, Rivers Angels beat debutant, Benue Queens 4-2. Nana Yusuf, Aminat Folorunsho, and Chisom Nwachukwu’s brace helped Tosan Blackson’s side to victory.
Hellen Alex and Ranti Joshua pulled two goals back for the Lafia-based side.
In Benin City, holders, Edo Queens defeated Confluence Queens 2-0 thanks to goals from Precious Vincent and Emem Essien.
In Ibadan, Rasheedat Salau’s first-half goal separated Ekiti Queens from Abia Angels.
With the conclusion of the regular season, the league next focus is on the Playoffs where the league winner and continental representative at West Africa Zone B (WAFU-B) and Champions League will emerge in Ikenne.
