Remo Stars Ladies head coach, Wemimo Mathew has revealed what led to her side first loss of the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership to Robo Queens.
The Sky Blue Stars Ladies were handed their first defeat in their debut campaign in the NWFL Premiership no thanks to goals from Opeyemi Ajakaye and Folashade Ijamilusi.
Wemimo disclosed Remo Stars Ladies came prepared for the game but the young lads couldn’t contain the pressure from their opponent in the second half, stressing that the scorching sun had a little effect on the players.
“It wasn’t our intention to loose against Robo Queens but the girls did their best. I think they were unable to contain the pressure in the second half,” Wemimo told Nigeriafootball.ng.
“Normally the weather might affect because we normally train in the morning and evening but notwithstanding, they (Remo Stars Ladies) were able to curtail the opponents during the first half under a scorching sun but in the second half, they lost concentration in the defense and that was why, we were able to concede the two goals.
“We played based on the players on ground, you know this is a new team and we started very late. So the players we were able to acquire are the players we are using now. So we play our games based on the strength of the players we are having now.”
Remo Stars Ladies will return to their fortress in Ikenne in their next game to face group B table toppers Edo Queens on Wednesday, December 13.
