Osimhen double lifts Galatasaray to Istanbul derby win over Fenerbahce

Victor Osimhen scored twice as Galatasaray beat Fenerbahce 2-1 in a hard-fought Istanbul derby at RAMS Park on Monday night.
The Nigeria striker gave the hosts the lead in the 29th minute, producing an excellent finish from inside the penalty area after being played in by Barıs Alper Yılmaz.
Osimhen struck again shortly before half-time to put Galatasaray in control. He headed the ball into the net in the 44th minute following Davinson Sanchez’s effort, giving the Yellow and Reds a 2-0 advantage at the break.
The result continues an impressive run of form for the 27-year-old, who now has six goals and three assists in six league appearances for Galatasaray this season.
Fenerbahce responded after the interval when Irfan Can Kahveci reduced the deficit in the 62nd minute. His goal ensured a tense final period, but Galatasaray defended their lead to claim all three points.
Osimhen was replaced by Wilfried Singo in the 88th minute as Galatasaray worked to close out the derby victory.
The win moves Galatasaray back to the top of the league table. Fenerbahce remain fifth.
