Real Madrid offer Vinicius Junior improved deal as Arsenal interest grows

Real Madrid have made an improved contract offer to Vinicius Junior in an attempt to secure the Brazilian forward’s future and fend off growing interest from Arsenal.

Talks between the player and the Spanish club had stalled after continuing for about 18 months, but Real Madrid have now tried to break the deadlock with revised financial terms. Vinicius Junior has entered the final 12 months of his current contract, which runs until 2027. That situation has encouraged Arsenal to monitor developments closely, with the Premier League club understood to regard him as a “priority” target for the left-wing position.

BBC reports that Arsenal are prepared to “accelerate their interest” immediately if Vinicius Junior rejects Real Madrid’s improved offer. The London club’s interest has increased the pressure on Real Madrid to resolve the situation, although the final decision now rests with the player.

Real Madrid are waiting for Vinicius Junior to respond, while the club’s coaching staff are hoping he chooses to remain at the Santiago Bernabeu. Their hopes include those of returning manager Jose Mourinho, who wants the forward to continue at what he has previously described as his “dream club”.

Vinicius Junior returned to training with Real Madrid on Monday after completing his involvement with Brazil at the World Cup. He underwent medical tests before taking part in his first training session ahead of the new season.

The main obstacle in the negotiations has been money. Vinicius Junior is seeking “significant financial recognition” that reflects his status as Real Madrid’s leading star. He has made 375 appearances for the club and scored 128 goals since joining from Flamengo.
