The Russian Football Union has revealed the location for the eagerly awaited friendly match between the senior men’s national team of Russia and Nigeria’s Super Eagles.
This match is scheduled for Friday, June 6, at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow.
It marks the inaugural encounter between the two nations at this level.
The last time Russia played at this venue was on September 1, 2021, during a 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying match against Croatia.
Additionally, Valery Karpin’s team has another friendly match planned against Belarus in Minsk on June 10.
Prior to the match with Russia, the Super Eagles will participate in an invitational tournament known as the Unity Cup in May, which will also feature the Black Stars of Ghana, the Reggae Boys of Jamaica, and the Soca Warriors of Trinidad and Tobago.
Nigeria’s opening match in this tournament will be against their long-standing rivals, Ghana, at the Gtech Community Stadium in London on Wednesday, May 28.
