Sabo Okala blames profligacy for Confluence Queens’ draw with Dannaz Ladies

By Wale Mustapha

Sabo Okala, Head Coach of Confluence Queens, has blamed his side’s inability to convert chances for their frustrating goalless draw against Dannaz Ladies in the Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) tie on Wednesday.

The Lokoja-based Confluence Queens were held to a stalemate by their Lagos visitors in a Matchday Nine encounter at the Prince Abubakar Audu University in Anyingba. Despite dominating possession and creating several scoring opportunities in the first half, the hosts failed to find the back of the net.

While Dannaz Ladies gained momentum in the second half, they were only able to defend against the persistent attacks from Confluence Queens, with neither side managing to break the deadlock.

A visibly disappointed Okala expressed his dissatisfaction with the result, insisting that his team’s performance deserved a win.

“It’s a bitter pill to swallow. We don’t deserve to play a draw; we did everything we could with build-ups and game control,” Okala told Nigeriafootball.ng.

“This has been our major shortcoming this season, but we will not give up. It’s a new and young team, and we will continue to work on improving our conversion rate.”

The Confluence Queens will aim to bounce back when they face Nasarawa Amazons in Lafia next week.
