Former Nigeria international, Sam Sodje has expressed concerns over the quietness of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on Jose Peseiro after his contract ended last month.
Sodje was irked by the lack of actions on the part of NFF leadership following the expiration of the contract of Super Eagles Technical Adviser, Jose Peseiro. He laments why the NFF has yet to formally or officially issue any statement on the situation as he expects them to do something fast before the end of this week.
“He [Peseiro] has been a brilliant manager during his time with the team. The only problem I had is with the NFF on how prepared they are,” Sodje told Brila FM.
“It means that we have unprofessional people there. Before stuff like this happens, they should have planned well.”
The Portuguese coach announced the expiration of his contract on February 29 with a post on his X handle.
However, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is yet to make any official statement on the coach’s contract after leading the team to second place at the last Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cote d’Ivoire.
“It is sad that as a country this is happening to our football. Now that people are getting the chance to believe in the team again and now looking for a new coach,” he continued.
“I think this is the time we need to plan from where we stopped at the AFCON. Looking for a new coach whether he is home-based or foreign coach, as far as we get the system right.
“It all goes down to the technical team in the NFF. They just have no clue and it is sad. I hope we can one day get our hearts together and at least give Nigerian fans a better service as sports administrators.”
