Sunday Oliseh praises Spain’s historic UEFA Euro 2024 victory over England

Former head coach of Nigeria, Sunday Oliseh, has expressed his excitement over Spain’s remarkable performance that secured their record UEFA European Championship title.

La Furia Roja triumphed over England 2-1 in the final held in Berlin on Sunday, making them the most successful nation in European tournament history.

Nico Williams opened the scoring just two minutes into the second half, while Cole Palmer equalized for the Three Lions shortly after coming off the bench. Mikel Oryazabal, also a substitute, netted the winning goal for Spain with just four minutes left in the match.

Oliseh lauded Coach Luis de la Fuente’s tactical prowess and recounted the contributions of young stars Lamine Yamal, Dani Olmo, Nico Williams, and Rodri in leading the team throughout the tournament.

“Magnificent 7” Spain won all seven matches to clinch their fourth European title.

“Yamal, Williams, Olmo, Rodri, and Coach De la Fuente have restored my joy in watching the European Championship,” Oliseh stated on his X handle.

“What a team, what a football philosophy with youngsters. By far the best team.”

Yamal finished the tournament with one goal and four assists, breaking multiple records, including being the youngest player to assist in a European Championship final. Williams contributed two goals and one assist, while Dani Olmo shone with three goals and three assists, playing crucial roles in Spain’s success.

Rodri was named Player of the Tournament for his outstanding performances in midfield throughout the competition.
