Terem Moffi scores first Hamburg goal in dramatic Hoffenheim comeback

Terem Moffi marked his first goal for Hamburg with a late equaliser as Merlin Polzin’s side fought back to beat Hoffenheim 3-2.

Hamburg were 2-1 down with only seven minutes remaining when the Nigeria striker levelled the match. Moffi had been introduced in the 76th minute, replacing Martin Adeline, and struck seven minutes later to open his account since joining Die Rothosen this summer.

Miro Muheim then completed a remarkable turnaround by scoring the winner deep into stoppage time, securing an away victory for Hamburg.

Moffi said he was delighted to have played a decisive role and praised the quality of Muheim’s delivery for his equaliser.

“We are very proud. I’m happy that I was able to help the team with my goal. Miro’s cross was a truly wonderful cross,” Moffi told the club’s official website.

“All I had to do was get myself into position. After that, I had the feeling that we still had a chance to win the game. We succeeded in doing that in the last minute.

“It’s an extraordinary feeling to see how many HSV fans have set out to watch the game here. Crazy! We are grateful to each and every one of them for coming.”
