Transfer News: Two Serie A clubs eye Cyril Dessers for summer move

Italian Serie A clubs Empoli and Cagliari are reportedly leading the race to sign Nigerian striker Cyril Dessers from Scottish side Rangers.

The Super Eagles forward is currently reassessing his future at Rangers after falling down the pecking order in recent weeks.

According to Sky Sport Italia, both Empoli and Cagliari are interested in a loan deal with an option to buy at the end of the season.

Dessers, 30, has previously played for Serie A side Cremonese, where he impressed during the 2022/2023 season with six goals in 26 appearances before joining Rangers for the 2023/2024 season.

Despite scoring 12 goals and providing 4 assists in 30 appearances across all competitions this term, the forward’s future at Rangers remains uncertain.

His contract with the Scottish giants runs until May 2027, but a move to Italy could provide Dessers with more playing time and an opportunity to reignite his career in Serie A.
