Turkish singer celebrates Mohamed Salah after Trabzonspor heroics

Mohamed Salah has quickly become a talking point among football supporters in Turkey, with his impact at Trabzonspor spilling over into the country’s entertainment scene after a Turkish singer performed a song dedicated to the Egypt captain.

Oyku Gurman paid tribute to Salah during a live performance after the forward scored twice to inspire Trabzonspor to a 2-1 victory over Basaksehir in the second round of the Turkish Super Lig on Sunday.

The singer shared a video of the performance on her Instagram story. In the footage, Gurman is seen on stage at an event she was hosting, singing in praise of the Egyptian forward.

Among the words repeated by the singer were: “Allah… Allah… Allah… Mohamed Salah.”

The gesture carried an added significance because Gurman is originally from the city of Trabzon, although she was raised in Istanbul.

Salah continued his impressive start to life with Trabzonspor by producing the decisive contribution against Basaksehir. The match was his third appearance for the club since completing his move during the current summer.

His debut ended in a draw against Kasımpasa, before Trabzonspor suffered defeat by Hungarian side Ferencvarosi in the qualifying rounds for the Europa League. Salah then responded with a match-winning display against Basaksehir, scoring both of his side’s goals in the 2-1 success.

The forward joined Trabzonspor after bringing his spell with Liverpool to an end. His time at the English club also included a historic World Cup campaign with Egypt, during which he helped the national team reach the round of 16 for the first time.

Although his move to Turkey is still in its early stages, Salah’s goals have already made a strong impression at his new club. His contribution against Basaksehir not only secured Trabzonspor’s first league victory in the account described, but also prompted recognition away from the pitch.

Gurman’s performance offered a striking example of the attention surrounding the Egyptian, whose name was celebrated on stage just days after he had delivered two decisive moments for Trabzonspor.
