U20 Women World Cup: Time and where to watch Nigeria vs Germany
By Monsurah Olatunji
After the victory against South Korea in their opening match of the ongoing FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup in Colombia, Nigeria will take on tournament favourites Germany.
The two-time runners-up defeated the Korean Republic 1-0 on Monday at the Estadio Metropolitano de Techo in Bogota, Colombia, thanks to a brilliant late goal by Flourish Sabastine.
On the other hand, Germany thrashed Venezuela 5-2 in their group opener. The Germans had only lost two of their previous 20 group matches in the history of the tournament and they are favourites for this year’s campaign.
Meanwhile, the Falconets have been runners-up twice in the competition (2010 and 2014) – agonisingly losing both to the Germans.
The Falconets will take on Germany at Bogota’s 10,000-seat Estadio Metropolitano de Tech and broadcast live on FIFA Plus.
The game is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, and will kick off at 11 PM Nigerian time.
The competition welcomes 24 teams for the first time and the top two teams in each group will qualify for the round of 16, alongside the best four third-placed teams.
